University of Haifa
The University of Haifa (UH) is the largest comprehensive research university in northern Israel and the most pluralistic institution of higher education in the country. Founded in 1963, the UH has developed into a world-class academic institution with over 600 experts in Education who are dedicated to pursuing excellence in academic research and teaching. The UH has participated in 80 EU funded projects, in 37 of them as a coordinator and currently has 9 active Horizon 2020 projects.
The bulk of the research at the University is carried out in the context of 70+ research institutes & centers which provide the opportunity for interdisciplinary work. The Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences is a unique institute, applying an interdisciplinary approach with highly professional standards. The school has four complementary departments: Maritime Civilizations, Marine Geosciences, Marine Biology and Marine Technologies as well as a joint master’s program in Maritime Law and Marine Natural Resources Law and an MBA program in Shipping and Ports Management. The School was chosen by the State of Israel to lead the Mediterranean Sea Research Center of Israel (MERCI), a consortium of seven universities, a college and two governmental research institutes, working together under the leadership of the University of Haifa.

- development and testing associated with UC2, and for coordination of efforts related to the concept definition for which it is the workpackage leader.
- UH will also contribute to the development of the other use-cases, and will be involved in all stages of development, from concepts definition to field validation, and in the dissemination and exploitation activities.
